Hotel Pet Policy Details

Pet Fees

Typically a nightly fee per pet. Accor’s pet fees differ by brand and region. In Europe, many ibis, Mercure, Novotel hotels charge a small fee (about €5–€15 per night per pet is common ). Luxury Accor brands (e.g. Sofitel, Fairmont) often charge higher fees – for example, Fairmont hotels in North America might charge around $50–$75 per stay per pet, and one Novotel in the U.S. charges $125 per pet for a week-long stay . Generally, the fee is per night in Europe and per stay in North America, but it varies. These fees are usually non-refundable.

Weight Limits

Weight limits at Accor hotels depend on the brand and local policy. Many European Accor hotels allow small to medium dogs (often a guideline of around 15–30 kg (33–66 lbs) maximum, though not always strictly enforced). For instance, some ibis or Mercure hotels may only allow dogs under 15 kg. Luxury brands like Fairmont may be more flexible and allow larger dogs (Fairmont hotels often allow big dogs, sometimes with a weight limit ~~). As a rule of thumb, small and medium-sized pets are welcome at most Accor properties; if you have a large dog, it’s important to confirm with the specific hotel.

Breed Restrictions

No chain-wide breed bans. Accor doesn’t stipulate breed restrictions in its general pet-friendly messaging. Brands like Mercure, Novotel, ibis “welcome furry friends with open arms” and do not list breeds. As long as the pet is not aggressive and meets any size criteria, breed is typically a non-issue. (Individual hotels or countries might have rules – e.g., some places might not accept certain guard dog breeds – so when in doubt, ask the hotel directly.)

Max Pets per Room

Usually 1–2 pets per room. Many Accor hotels allow one pet per room as the standard (especially in Europe, you’ll often see a limit of 1 dog or cat per room). Some Accor properties do permit two – for example, certain Sofitel or Fairmont hotels might allow 2 small pets. The “pet per room” limit is set by each hotel, so check ahead if you plan to bring more than one pet.

Types of Pets Permitted

Dogs and cats are welcomed at Accor hotels. These are the typical pets mentioned in Accor’s policies. Some hotels may only advertise as “dog-friendly” but will accept cats on request. Other kinds of pets (birds, rabbits, etc.) are generally not part of Accor’s pet programs, but a small caged animal might be considered by a hotel on a case-by-case basis. (Always inquire directly if you have a pet other than a dog or cat.) Notably, guide dogs are allowed at all Accor hotels (even where pets might not normally be) due to legal requirements.

Required Documentation

Accor hotels usually do not require special documentation for pets. You’ll be asked to sign a pet policy agreement at check-in. In some cases (especially international travel), you might need to show proof of rabies vaccination or health certificate to customs or authorities, but the hotel itself typically just asks for a credit card on file in case of damages. It’s advisable to have vaccination records when traveling in Europe, but Accor staff will only ask for them if there’s a specific reason.

Pet Friendly Amenities

Amenities: Accor’s offerings range from basic to upscale: Economy brands (ibis, ibis Styles) – Pet amenities are minimal (usually just a water bowl upon request and a corner of the room for a pet bed you bring). Mid-scale (Novotel, Mercure) – Often have a bit more, e.g. some provide a dog bowl and maybe a small treat; many have nearby green spaces. Luxury (Sofitel, Fairmont) – These hotels often go the extra mile: pet beds, bowls, and welcome treats are commonly providedsofitel. , and concierge can assist with pet sitting or walking services in some casessofitel. . For example, Fairmont Hotels offer pet packages at some properties (including dog beds, food bowls, and even a welcome note for your pet). Overall, Accor’s pet-friendly focus is stronger in their European hotels, where bringing a dog along is more common and often expected.

Other Restrictions

Restrictions: At Accor hotels, standard pet etiquette applies. Pets must be kept on a leash in public areas of the hotel. They are not allowed in dining areas, spas, or pools (except service animals). Many Accor hotels (like in the NH Hotel group which Accor now owns) explicitly state that pets cannot be left alone in the room, or if they are, only for very short periods and you must inform the front desknh- . Some hotels permit you to bring your pet to certain outdoor terrace areas (for example, some Novotels allow dogs on outdoor patios but not indoors in restaurants). You are expected to clean up after your pet; in European cities, the front desk can often supply waste bags if needed. Noise must be controlled – if a pet is too disruptive, the hotel may ask you to make other arrangements.

Additional Notes

Notes: Accor is a Paris-based global hotel group, and pet-friendliness is quite common in their European properties. Brands like ibis, Novotel, Mercure widely accept pets (it’s part of their brand culture in Europe), usually for a small nightly fee. Sofitel and Fairmont (Accor’s luxury brands) also often allow pets, appealing to travelers who bring pets on luxury trips – just be aware the fees can be higher and you may need to book a specific pet-friendly room. Always check the individual hotel’s policy: in some countries, a few Accor hotels might choose not to allow pets at all, while others have special offerings for pets. Accor’s ALL loyalty program doesn’t yet have a pet-specific perk, but some Accor hotels will note your pet in the reservation and prepare amenities accordingly if you let them know in advance. Service animals are welcomed at all Accor hotels and are not subject to fees or the pet restrictions.
